2008, it was to be a whole new year filled with brand new beginnings. Filled with new clothes, new hairstyle and most importantly, a whole new relationship! Or at least that’s what the Bakanishi had in mind. Jin had been developing a certain attraction to Taguchi Junnosuke. Perhaps it was the lame jokes, the cute smiles, the horrible puns, and Junno’s ability to laugh at his own jokes or perhaps even all of the above is what has driven this certain Baka wanting more.

It all started since late November, from then it only grew more and more. Jin’s attraction was pretty obvious and everyone in the agency knew about it. That is everyone except for Junno. Junno’s naïve nature prevents him from ever noticing that matter. So it’s all up to the Bakanishi to confess his feelings first.

It was the 31st of December 2007; Jin sat on a comfy chair tapping his fingers on the lounge’s armrest in a synchronised manner. Today was the last day of 2007 and within a couple of hours; it will be a whole new year with brand new beginnings. The Bakanishi closed his eyes and imagined of all the wonderful events to look forward to.

First were the new clothes. It’d be cold around that time and so Ugg boots are definitely in season. So all the new models would come out! That will be awesome. Next is the new hairstyle. Apparently dark colours are in, and there was a new line of hair products that Johnny’s Entertainment had just signed a contract with so that would be cool too. But the one that really gets this Baka excited is the brand new relationship!

Jin sighed creamily as he continues to imagine the possibilities and what to hope for… A new relationship with Taguchi Junnosuke…. He couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like. No one he knows had ever gone out with Junno so he couldn’t exactly ask anyone what it would be like. So the baka could only wonder.

“Hmm, I bet he’d be a good kisser. Hell yeah! You can just tell by looking at him right? And he’s definitely sweet and innocent, he’d probably want to hold hands and hug every so often. Perfect! That way I could so get everyone in the agency all jealous! And let’s not forget the SEX!” Jin could only think in his deluded mind all of the possibilities, as he got excited with each new thought.

But it all came to an end as the door swung open and two of his buddies Kame and Nakamaru walked in.

“I can’t believe we have to work on New Years Eve!” Kame groaned as he plopped his butt down on one of the lounges.

“I know! New Years is the best time for a couple to admit their feelings to one another right? I mean with all the fireworks and all. It’s believed traditionally that a couple who is together under the fireworks when the clock strikes twelve at midnight will have good luck for the new year!” Maru exclaimed. “But instead we have to do the Johnny’s Countdown 2007-2008 show!”

Jin smiled by what Maru had said. He knew about the tradition, but aren’t like the rest of his friends he was excited for the job.

Kame noticed his friend’s huge smile. “Hey Akanishi! What’s with you? You seem thrilled about this whole thing…”

Jin’s smile got wider. “Of course I’m excited! It’s the perfect opportunity for me to admit my love for Junno!”

Maru sighed, “I don’t get you, why don’t you just tell him already like a normal person? At this rate he’s going to find out from the press.”

“Maru don’t be silly, Junno doesn’t like reading the newspaper.” Jin smiled his baka smile triumphantly. “Anyways, my confession will be special; I wouldn’t even need to say anything after what I will do to him tonight at the Countdown!” Jin smirked evilly.

Maru and Kame’s face began to fill with fear and concern as the two boys turned their heads at the baka.

“Don’t tell me….” Maru gushed.

“Jin… does it have anything to do with the fan service thing Johnny’s making us all do?” Kame asked in absolute fear.

Jin got up. “The fan service for today is for us to use a blindfold and find somebody to grab and hug. Now it doesn’t have to be only a hug, it can actually be a kiss too. BUT I have no intention of that at all!” Jin cackled slyly. “Tonight I will show Junno what a real hot kiss would be like and that’d be enough for him to understand the chemistry we have!” the baka continued to cackle as he saunters out of the room leaving a very scared Kame and Maru.

That evening was the Countdown. All of the Johnny boys were in the stadium ready to do their own thing. KAT-TUN had already performed their segment and now the boys could just have their own free time watching the other Johnny’s perform until the fan service time which takes place at 11:55 pm.

Jin watched the other bands perform in boredom. He really couldn’t wait until it's midnight. He tapped his fingers against his sides as he watches another performance by Kanjani 8. Although all of the performances were fantastic, Jin couldn’t help by thinking that all these performances would simply be some sort of warm up for the real show that’s about to take place at midnight! But his smile was soon replaced with a frown as soon as he sees the MCs enter the stage.

You see, Arashi was chosen to be the MCs of the countdown for this year, and the most actively speaking member just happens to be none other than Matsumoto Jun himself.

The great Matsujun holds a high reputation. Brutally honest and highly respected by all who had met and worked with him; this sempai is one of Johnny’s greatest actor and musician. This great reputation was well earned by him. However some of his kouhais begs a differ. One of which is Akanishi Jin.
You see Matsujun is definitely not the nicest person when it comes to his kouhais. Jun never meant to truly diss his underlings in a mean way at all, but the man loves to make fun of them nonetheless; one of his favourite victims just so happens to be the Bakanishi.

Jin was well known for his reputation as an absolute baka. All of Johnny’s knew it, his family knew it and his fans knew it. But none of them has ever made him feel like the biggest baka on earth like Matsujun does. The man doesn’t exactly say it directly, but he didn’t really need to either. Matsujun have such a way of manipulating a conversation and turning it into some sort of statement that absolutely embarrass the person he have that conversation with. Jin just so happens to be one of the most common victims in Matsujun’s conquest and ever since Jin actually yelled back at his sempai, Jun had made it his duty to find anything else that the baka would do embarrassingly and will never let him live it down.
And tonight’s countdown just seemed to be the perfect opportunity for Matsujun’s revenge as the sempai smirked towards the direction of backstage where Jin obviously stood.

Jin sees his enemy’s smirk and glared back. He knew Matsujun is definitely out to get him but the baka swore an oath that evening that he will not be the laughing stock of the whole show. Let’s see how that will last…

It was finally 11:55 pm, the time for the fan service! Most of the Johnny’s such as KAT-TUN, NEWS, Kanjani8 and the juniors all entered the stage again as Arashi announced them one by one.
Jin immediately had his eyes glued to Junno as he stood opposite of the tall boy, who stood in between of the over-protective Kame and Nakamaru. Kame and Maru both gave a “Don’t be an idiot” look  towards Jin and pretended to joke around with Junno at the same time. Junno only giggled as usual as he smiled that hyper smile.

Jin could right then almost taste victory! Because within minutes, this baka was so sure that Junno would be all his! Jin kept his eyes glued on Junno until he felt a tap on his shoulder. The baka turned around, only to see a certain dude named Nishikido Ryo.

“Hey Akanishi! Aren’t you supposed to stand over there?! With the rest of your group.” Ryo stated in an unpleasant tone pointing at the opposite direction where the rest of the KAT-TUN members stood.
Jin glared back, “No need to be worried Ryo, I’m not after Ueda so I won’t even be in your way!” and with that last remark the baka stuck his tongue out feeling more closer to victory than ever before and also leaving an angry Ryo.

The boys were ordered to blindfold themselves. Jin took one last look at where Junno stood before he put on his own blindfold. Junno was pretty much just straight across him so Jin thought that if he just run and tackle Junno, everything will work out swimmingly right…?

So once all the boys were blindfolded, the audience all shout out the countdown from a big clock and when it came to the final 10 seconds it was time for the boys to find the person to show their affection too! Jin was more than ready! He got into an athlete’s position and was pumped! He could hear the audience screaming out the seconds and he imagined in his mind where Junno stood beforehand. When he began to hear a siren to indicate the boys to now run and grab someone; Jin took off running tackling whoever it was that got in his way and when he thought he reached the end he grabbed someone by the arm and pinned them to the ground and he planted the most strange kiss anyone had ever seen before. Now he was certain that Junno was now his.

Unfortunately, luck was not on his side at all.

The clock strikes 12 and there was another siren this time signalling for the boys to take off their blindfolds. Everybody took theirs off and then immediately laughed at the two people lying on the floor.

Jin took off his blindfold to notice a crushed figure on the ground. The figure looked half dead. Jin became confused as he took a better look at the figure he just tackled. It didn’t look like Junno…

Jin then noticed that Junno was standing next his buddy Ohkura Tadayoshi of Kanjani8. Junno was blushing embarrassingly and Jin began to jump into conclusions again. ‘KUSO! Did Ohkura steal my dear Junno’s first kiss of 2008?! That lucky son of a b-’ but before the baka could finish his sentence, he looked back at the crushed figure next to him on the ground.

Jin’s facial expression then turned horrified as the person pried the blindfold away. The half-dead figure that Jin had just tackled is none other than Nishikido Ryo who opened his eyes and now realised that the bastard who just tackled him was none other than that Bakanishi Jin.

“BLEUGH!!!! YOU AGAIN!” Ryo exclaimed in disgust wiping his mouth, he immediately began choking Jin for the rest of the show.

Matsumoto Jun continues to remind the audience about the birth of the new shounen ai pairings for the rest of the show.

The next morning Jin sat at the table of the lounge room tapping his fingers again, feeling rather emo that his plans were foiled. He had a plaster around his neck from all the choking and is now unable to look down.
Ueda and Kame walked in to the lounge room to see their fellow buddy tapping his misery away. The two boys laughed.

“You know Jin; I guess your plan didn’t quite work huh?” Kame giggled remembering the event that took place before.

“Don’t be too sad, if it makes you feel any better Junno’s kiss with Ohkura was actually accidental. You see when you were tackling everyone violently, you actually pushed Junno away and he bumped Ohkura and now their lips kinda landed together. Junno wasn’t too thrilled actually.” Ueda explained.

Another sly smirk formed in Jin’s face again.

“Plan A may have failed… but the Bakanishi never falls! I have another plan!” Jin declared out loud as he stood on his chair.

Kame and Ueda took a couple of steps back.

Jin smirked again. “Perhaps Junno weren’t thrilled because he likes girls…”

Kame and Ueda began to turn and head out the door but Jin leaped from his chair and tugged his two friends by their collars.

“I have a new plan! And this time you two are going to help me!” and by those last words. Everybody’s favourite baka cackled loudly.
